Bechtel Dining Hall
USAGE AND RESERVATIONS
Bechtel Residence Jean-Lou Chameau Dining Hall is approximately 3300 square feet and is the largest indoor dining space at Caltech. It comes equipped with 24 60-inch round tables with eight chairs per table. The room is best suited for large meetings or meals. The south patio along Moore Walk is an inviting reception area.
Bechtel Residence is an undergraduate student facility. Events held in the Bechtel Dining Hall may not disrupt resident activity. Reservations will be extended to students up to one year in advance and to all others up to six months in advance, with the understanding that a student event may be accommodated first if a conflict arises. All requests are subject to approval by Caltech Dining Services (CDS); confirmations will be emailed.
CATERING, SETUP, AND CLEANUP
All served food and beverage must be provided by Caltech Dining Services (CDS). There is no outside food permitted. CDS will set your catered food and beverage at the east end of the Dining Hall, as detailed in the diagram below. All furniture additions must be coordinated directly by CDS and will be noted on your catering invoice. The round dining tables at Bechtel may not be moved.
Event cleanup and trash removal must be provided by Caltech Facilities, Facilities Service Requests | Facilities (caltech.edu), promptly upon guest exit. The facility should be immediately returned to the condition received upon event conclusion. You may be asked to supply CDS with a Caltech Facilities work order confirmation.
You will need to provide your own A/V equipment, or request support from Caltech Academic Media Technologies (AMT), http://amt.caltech.edu/.
FACILITY ACCESS
Your access to Bechtel Dining Hall will be coordinated by CDS via Caltech Security. You may use only the dining room and south patio. Other than to access the restrooms, you may not use the north and west patios as well as the servery.
