Avery House Dining Hall and Bechtel Residence Jean-Lou Chameau Dining Hall and Servery are designated primarily as student-use spaces. Therefore, events permitted shall be of educational, scientific, cultural, Institute, or student-support interest and may not disrupt student activity in the adjacent residence space. You must have a Caltech or JPL sponsor.
Private-social or for-profit events are not allowed.
There is no reservation fee for use of Avery or Bechtel. Reservations will be extended to students up to one year in advance and to all others up to six months in advance, with the understanding that a student event may be accommodated first if a conflict arises.
To submit a reservation, the following information is required:
• Caltech/JPL sponsor, department, and contact information, along with internal account as evidence of sponsorship
• Name, purpose, date, time, load- in/out of event, and number of attendees expected
• Evidence of post-event cleanup from Custodial Services (AiM via Access or email@example.com) is required within three business days of your Avery reservation request
All requests are subject to approval by Caltech Dining Services (CDS); confirmations will be emailed.
CATERING, SETUP, AND CLEANUP
All served food and beverage must be provided by Caltech Dining Services, 626-395-2900. There is no outside food service permitted.
Event cleanup and trash removal at Avery must be provided by Caltech’s Custodial Services, 626-395-4738, firstname.lastname@example.org or AiM via Access, promptly upon guest exit. Event cleanup and trash removal at Bechtel is provided directly by CDS.
Requests to move furniture from its original location must be approved by CDS. As such, all requests for additional rentals and furniture must be coordinated through CDS. The facility should be immediately returned to the condition received upon event conclusion.
Access to the reserved facilities are allowed only by Caltech Dining Services via Caltech Security. Guests shall use only the room(s) reserved; please do not enter the servery or use courtyard without prior approval by CDS.
The main entrance doors to Avery House may not be propped open. With use of Avery Library, a key to access the Avery restrooms can be made available by CDS with advance notice.
